This application is integrated with PayPal for SECURE online payments. All you need to do is enter the email address you have registered with PayPal in the PayPal code on the eventsubmit.asp page. The application will total the number of tickets the user requested and multiply by the price per ticket and pass this sum to PayPal for payment.
This application also makes use of Server Side Includes (SSI) for the database connections and for a couple of other functions to help with formatting and displaying information to and from the database.
This is a great application to help you learn some new ASP code techniques!

Events.asp
- This is the page that displays a list of your events. The code in the page
looks at the date of the event in the database. If the date is less than
today, the event will not show up. That way, your content is always current.
There are no modifications to make to this page.
Note: To see these other pages, start with the events.asp page.
EventDetails.asp
- The user clicks the event link from the events.asp page and passes
parameters to the event details page to show all the event fields. Users can
then click a link to register for the event online.There are no
modifications to make on this page.
EventRegister.asp
- Collect user information including the number of tickets or spots they
wish to reserve for the event. There are no modifications to make on this
page.
EventSubmit.asp
- This page writes the users information to the database and offers up to
payment methods: send check or money order or pay online with a credit card
via you PayPal account. The only modification to make on this page is your
mailing address and you must enter your registered PayPal email address in
the PayPal code on the page.
Functions.asp
- This page contains the code to open and close the database connections.
We've also included two additional functions: FixForSQL and FixForHTML. When
entering data into a database via a form, by default, line returns will not
display on your page when returning the results and apostrophes will cause
and error when entering the data. For example, if your text contains the
work "don't", this will throw an error. These functions rectify these
problems in both directions. There are no modifications to make on this
page.
LoadEvent.asp
- This is a password protected page for you to enter new events into the
database. The form and the code to enter the data are all contained on this
one page. There are no modifications to make on this page.
Main.css
- All of the pages in this application are linked to this Cascading Style
Sheet (CSS). It is a basic style sheet calling out the font, size and color
of fonts used for general text and hyperlinks. Modify this file to change
the look of the pages.
MyEvents.mdb - This is the Access
2002 database that comes with the application. It contains a table for your
events and a table for registration. We recommend that you change the name
of the database.

TIP: If using FrontPage 2002, after installing the application, you can use the Database Interface Wizard to create more pages that will allow you to see who's registered and to make modifications to the events you have entered.
